Acer Liquid A1 Now Comes in Black; Americans Still Jealous

As if introducing theAcer Liquid A1 on the British Isles first before the Americans could even get the taste of it is not enough, the British techies are going to be given another first from Acer: A black Liquid A1 smartphone.

Still with its 3.5-inch WVGA display, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Android 1.6 OS, 5-megapixel camera, and 3G connectivity, the Britons can now choose between a white Acer Liquid A1 and a black version of it. Either way, the phone's pretty fine.

The Acer Liquid A1 still sells at around 330 quid (about US$537) and is available atClove andHandtec.

Sony Vaio Blu-Ray Laptops

The Sony Vaio FW480J/T features a hassle-free Blu-Ray playback and a large 1,600x900-pixel resolution, a 16.4-inch screen, and fairly decent graphics that could handle many mainstream games without a hitch. A while back, this particular laptop model cost $1,199, which was okay if you compare it to other traditional gaming laptops.

A few months later, Sony released the Vaio FW560F/T. At $999, it slips under the $1000 psychological barrier. Still, at a dollar bellow $1k, It's a practically high-end model by virtue of its price - and its features. At its prices, it was able to keep Blu-Ray while getting an improved processor speed, and Windows 7 Home Premium as its OS. The Vaio FW560F/T definitely offers a better deal than the FW480J/T, which costs more but has less to offer.

But then again, most high-end gaming laptops have the Intel Core i7 processor, and they have never been faster. Having a Core 2 duo just doesn't put it up there with the others. This is why you couldn't really call the FW560F/T a gaming laptop. Still, it is really affordable and can handle most games better than you would expect.

Here's another unique device that homes may greatly benefit from. It is called the IllumiCharger. Quite a simple device at it is, the IllumiCharger can be put quite to good use in homes where portable devices requiring charging power may be found in abundance.

The IllumiCharger is simply a wall outlet equipped with USB slots. What this device does is capture and store power through light energy. The light may come from those produced by traditional lighting fixtures around the home. The IllumiCharger can then be used to charge up portable devices such as mp3 players, cell phones and digital cameras through the use of renewable energy from light.

And since it does not source out its power from grid electricity, it is a kind of a green gadget that any home would surely appreciate. The IllumiCharger provides free recycled charging power for your portable gadgets when you need it. Unfortunately, this unique invention is yet to be made for the consumer market. It is currently a finalist for theGreener Gadgets Design Competition . But everyone would surely be expecting it to come out soon for public consumption.

Energy Sistem Unveils E-Book Reader

Known for manufacturing PMPs, Energy Sistem introduces its second e-book reader called the Energy Book 2060. It features a 6-inch E-ink Vizplex display, 64MB of internal memory, SDHC card, and MP3 player. File support includes e-Pub, FB2, and PDF. The life of its lithium battery is said to last up to 6,000 page turns.

The Energy Book 2060 is preloaded with 100 classic literatures in English, Spanish, and French. Users can download more free books through Google Books. It works with Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, as well as Mac 9.x/ X or later.

The Energy Book 2060 from Energy Sistem will be available first in Europe for 258 euros, or about US$350.

Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus Price Tags Revealed, Somewhat

PhoneArena.com got a tip thatPalm's updated Pre and Pixi will still be reasonably priced for a touchscreen phone. According to the source, the Palm Pre Plus will cost US$149.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. Of course, expect a binding contract to go along with your purchase. Meanwhile, the Palm Pixi Plus will be available with a buy-one-get-one promotion for only US$99.99 after rebates.

The prices of Verizon's first two webOS smartphones are more consumer-friendly compared to other popular brands. However, bear in mind that this information is not yet confirmed and we will have to wait until January 25 to know the real deal about the pricing.

Tsovet CS79 Wristwatch Is Mathematically-Challenged

Some people have the liking for big-faced fashionablewristwatches and some watch makers are more than glad to provide them with such. One of which is Tsovet, which comes up with the Ronda Quartz-powered CS79. It features PVD-coated components, a 47mm front load case made from aerospace-grade stainless steel, Italian calf leather strap, and water resistance of up to 50 meters.

The odd thing, however, about this watch is that the 10 on the face does not have a 1 on it, so be careful about telling time at 0 oclock in the morning. Other than that, the Tsovet CS79, whichsells for US$425 , has that unmistakable appeal.
